In the Garden: August

August brought summer heat to our little KNS garden.

We spent much of the month clearing out the summer beds, harvesting what was ready, and making room for the season ahead.

There were Rosa Bianca eggplants, Parfianka pomegranates, and more peppers than we knew what to do with from the pepper garden. We’ll be making a few batches of homemade hot sauce, and even made a little Calabrian chili oil to keep some of that summer heat around a little longer.

As the summer garden comes to an end, we’ve also started planting seeds for fall and winter — a few small signs of what’s to come.

Rosa bianca eggplant, parfianka pomegranate, lacinato kale, red russian kale, calabrian chili, scotch bonnet peppers, scorpion peppers, serrano peppers, chili peppers, jalepenos, russian sage, texas lilac tree blooms, purple basil and french tarragon
